Subject	Is $1400 reasonable to change differential?

Message	I got a quote from two different local shops of $1400 to change the diff. This seems a little ridiculous to me. And this was with used parts from their "sources" aka junkyards. What do you guys think? Should I do it myself? My TT has the NA rear end in it, so I need to find an NA subframe. I have been considering swapping back to the TT diff because I hate how useless first gear is and the high revs on the highway. Do you think I would severly regret going back to the TT gearing after having the NA gearing in my car?
